A Rare Ecstasy

(On the Pisces New Moon)

Art by Art by Cocorrina

There are two reasons why this lunation is of a rare breed.

The first being its proximity to the once-in-a-lifetime alignment of Venus/Neptune in these degrees of late Pisces; The second relating to an often feared dragon configuration bearing the name Kalasarpa Yoga. The combination, if worked with properly throughout this lunation will create ecstatic results.

To set the scene, having a glance at the Chandra Symbol for the New Moon will open your heart a bit: A Spring festival. The participants are in a state of ecstatic frenzy (24 Pisces). Clearly, after the long and stressful pandemic Winter, a release like never seen before is to be expected. Dionysian to be certain. Enter the influence of Venus and Neptune in Pisces, and we are catapulted into a hopeful spin of frenzied joy. It’s an opening. A way of finally hugging and kissing and not caring about the baggage of the past. All ideas of debt and discipline floating in the breeze like a dandelion seed. What was lost is now found again as Venus moves towards her cazimi as well.

And then we have the dragon…

There is a yoga in Vedic Astrology that scares people in the know more than a Pluto transit in the West. It’s called Kalasarpa yoga. Essentially, when all the traditional planets are between the Nodes of the Moon (Rahu/Ketu) it is created. Yet, there are two variants to Kalasarpa-one considered beneficial, the other not so much. When the North Node (Rahu) is ahead in the zodiac to the 7 planets, it’s considered beneficial; when the South Node is ahead of them, not so much. Now, usually, this is applied to natal chart interpretations, and I’ll be the first to say I’m no expert in this yoga, yet I know how to spot it, and I know exactly what it feels like. It feels like you are in the coils of a giant snake! Whether the serpent is tightening or releasing is the nuance of the interpretation. And as far as I can see into this one, the dragon is letting go.

And so, you are now infused with a few images to carry with you into this lunation. There is a dragon releasing its grip on us, a Dionysian festival to attend to, and the infinitude of your imagination to explore. Find them all in your chart. Contemplate their stories often.

Praise Kala!
