Another Renaissance

Mercury visits the shrine his elders prayed hard at on the Solstice today. The first degree of Aquarius is where it reaches between worlds. In this world, it smells of frankincense and myrrh and is covered with yellow flowers, black sesame, and tears of longing for a change. In the other world, things are pretty much the same. They are perfect. The Magi has brought fresh candles and prayers of his own to remember this.

When a planet visits an important degree of a previous transit, it reactivates it. Often seen when working with eclipses, yet can be used with all consecrated moments. And so, our awareness which is braided tightly with his movements is reacquainted with our own prayers with the Great Conjunction. Whether you feel it was the official entry into the next Aion or just another day in 2020, that conjunction still opened the door for the rest of our lives to be lived in the Air Triplicity (according to Jupiter/Saturn time). Translation: We now exist socially in another element. And of course, this didn’t occur overnight, it’s been slowly transitioning our entire lives, but now it’s official. We will forever be in this complicated relationship with the machine and the ghosts within it, both augmenting and playing tricks with our realities. What and how and who to trust?

It’s clear we are living in another Renaissance. The last one, thanks to translations of ancient texts and printing, this one because of the internet, allows the world to have access to the wisdom of all Ages. It’s a surge of old information into current minds. It builds context and informs us of our roots, yet it also creates a fantasy that somehow older means better. This wealth of information from the past, traveling on light into the present, projected out into the future also creates a poverty of attention. It’s enough to make even Mercury confused. We need great discernment with this. Energy flows where attention goes after all. If we have no attention span, we won’t have much energy span either. We must attend to more than the mind. Our Soul needs tending to as well. And it can only be done in the eternity of this moment.

Marsilio Ficino, the truest of Renaissance men, one tuned to our time beautifully by being born with Saturn in Aquarius, Uranus in Taurus as well, once stroked his beard and thought, “The soul exists partly in eternity and partly in time.” We must be interested in both, yet it seems, most of the time, we are trying to waste time or watch it fly by while not spending our time wisely. Time out of time, this eternity is of great interest to our whimsical guide of the day. Again, he is visiting the sacred grounds where that “Christmas Star” shone overhead not too long ago. There is a magic to this.

The question we need to be asking ourselves is this:

Do I have a relationship with eternity?

Or, another good one could be:

How can I change my relationship to time?

We are in another Renaissance. Pull a relic from the past and carry it with you into eternity.

Mercury is also on his way to the evening sky. He is maturing and trying to grow one of those wizardly beards himself. So, we could also ask, relating to his evening appearance:

How have the ideas which claimed us at the beginning of the Mercury cycle in late October grown? That is, how much have they changed you? For me, this Ficino character and other Renaissance minds have been the source of much of my own inspiration. Travel in time to find out. Be a clever existential detective.
