On Mercury Retrograde (Libra)
It’s that time again when the sneaky magician conjures all the goblins and elves from hiding to steal our keys, twist our words, and, of course, break our machines. Whenever Mercury begins to descend the reception gets spotty, yet, inside, in the hermetic depths of the psyche, something profound begins to take place. All the ideas gathered throughout the previous cycle are sorted through and the ones still holding a glow remain, the rest must be discarded. Our attention becomes distracted while a synchronicity storm rages through the collective. For those paying attention, it’s a mystical experience. For those still blaming others-like, the God himself-will continue to suffer.
This retrograde occurs entirely in Libra. It started on Sep 27th (26º Libra) and will end on Oct. 18th (11º Libra) with a fresh cycle beginning with a cazimi on Oct 9th (17º Libra). It will surely tip the scales back n’ forth in some wild ways. The Chandra Symbol offers an interesting image for the start of the next synodic cycle as well:

This image will speak to everyone differently. There is no correct way to work with symbol systems, yet equipped with the knowledge it’s all happening in Libra and that Mercury will station direct opposed to Chiron, we can intimate an idea or two.
We are bored with the narrative, with the increasing polarization, the lies, and the same old stories. The woman from Chiron’s perspective could be our Mother. Sure, she’s listening, but she’s certainly tired of the way we are treating her. With each yawn as she drifts off, another hurricane, with each attempt to keep her eyes open, another disaster flashing her eyes open once more. She is tired. It could also be clearly seen in our relationships. The feminine can tolerate the rage, but not for long. She becomes exhausted by the conspiracies, worn down by the talk, and desires a deeper, more nourishing interaction. It’s our role to stop perpetuating the old story and to hold her tight as she drifts off into dreams. She will only sustain us tomorrow if we learn how to strike a balance and begin an honest search for peace within.
Every retrograde period is filled with unexpected delights. It’s our job to see the tricks as treats. To see the goblins as possessing a pearl of crazy wisdom we will only understand in retrospect. It is a time to be humble and learn from our mistakes.
Never curse the God. Instead, ask him politely why. Why and what and how I am to learn from these tricks?
