Never Miss the Mark

(Venus in Sag; Chiron stations)

Art by Jon Foreman

There’s an old Spanish proverb that says, “the archer that shoots badly has a lie ready.” Such wisdom could have traveled from the East though, from Thessaly, near that mythic mountain named Pelion, where Chiron shared the same wisdom to his student's eons ago. One doesn’t need to be an archer to extract the lesson here. We always have a lie ready when we miss the mark. So, it’s important to remember that fundamentally, the ‘marksman’ should be aiming at themselves. Not the wind or weather, not the lack of sleep or the poorly made bow, but always, at ourselves.

Chiron, the best archery teacher the world has ever seen, stations direct today. At 4º Aries, his journey continues in the first decan of the Zodiac, attempting to empower us with forgotten and wild wisdom. Venus makes a move today as well into Sagittarius. Her excited leap from the poisonous terrain she’s been in moves into an inspired relationship to our equine teacher (a trine). What can be learned here? What should we be watching for? How to ensure we don’t miss the mark?

We are in an interesting territory at the moment. One step away from the final eclipse of 2020 and another towards the Great Conjunction. This seemingly irrelevant transit may not be on your radar, yet it’s important to consider. Venus’s cycle began back in June in Gemini. She has nearly traveled half the Zodiac to reach this position in the morning sky and it offers a powerful way of reflecting on all our relations since then. We were in the midst of the first wave back then, now in the third. A question we could ask is: How has my relationship changed to [insert noun of interest here]. Has it matured or gone off? Another could be: How has my relationship changed with the Goddess? By creating these nodes in time and reflecting on the questions, you are getting closer to the answers to the questions in the above paragraph as well.

Chiron comes in for support (again, the forming trine) to show where we are lying. Masterful in his ways of revealing the Truth of where we are at, we get to take a sobering look at ourselves whenever something aligns with him. 2020 has strained and stressed many of us beyond comprehension, but it’s essential to see how it has also laid out one of the greatest opportunities for healing we have ever seen. If you find yourself lost in the wilds of these times, do what Chiron did when he was there: Sit beneath a tree and turn to the Sun and Moon for answers; If you feel alienated and you have lost many to inane conspiracies along the way, do what Chiron did: return to the fire and pray; And if you are sick, with COVID or something else, do what Chiron did when Hydra’s poison was coursing through his veins: Never stop searching for a cure, and share your own wisdom along the way.

When the Goddess and the Master align, so should we. The feeling is one of absolute acceptance. Everything is on time. Nothing is lost. Have a smile about it all. You are alive! Remembering this, we will never miss the mark.

* The trine between the two is exact on the 19th
