.: On the Future :.
There is nothing to go back to. The past has become a phantom, yet it haunts us as scars do and broken bones. We reach for the way it was and nothing remains. Like grasping at the air or trying to shape water. Our past is also a treasure map. It reveals where the best spots are.
Two events happen today in the ‘dark.’ One is the Aquarian New Moon, the other the conjunction between Venus and Jupiter-also in Aquarius. If you were to take a peek at a chart, you would see a high percentage of the planets in the sky in this Fixed Air Sign. It speaks volumes about our relationship to the future.
In a time where such an idea is as uncertain as to whether dragons are real, we are left with hope. We hope this pandemic will end, that the vaccine will work and it isn’t some wild conspiracy, we hope for the world to go back to ‘normal.” But what is normal and what really is the future? We all have our own definitions. But what do the planets say? Do the Gods traveling through Aquarius at the moment have a different definition than we do:
Venus may say, “The future is created with those we love.”
Jupiter may say, “The future requires faith for it invite in the Graces”
Saturn may say, “The future is what you make of it, and it starts today”
Mercury may say, “The future is all in your mind”
And with this New Moon, the luminaries may say, “The future is a cycle, a feeling, and a thought.”
Astrologers seem to be fixated on the future. I have little interest there. For me, Astrology is most interesting when looking back and seeing its pulse in the felt presence of the moment. To try and minimize the time spent out there in the future may prove incredibly helpful.
A wise person once said to me, “Oh, how much we suffer for the things that never happened.” If only my mother could have integrated such wisdom. Maybe we can try.
