…On all the retrogrades

Currently, all the outer planets are retrograde. And soon, Mercury and Mars will follow their wobbly steps. The only one left out is Venus, but she is making her own moves, tying prayers and measuring the temperatures behind the Sun as she plans to grace the evening sky by end of the year. What does it all mean? Is it doom, gloom, or bloom? Let’s explore it.

The dictionary defines RETROGRADE
as adjective:
* reverting to an earlier and inferior condition:

as noun:
* a degenerate person.

as verb
* go back in position or time

The adjective and verb we are familiar with, the noun may be news to some of us. I have heard polar opposite explanations of what copious retrograde planets mean in a chart, one of which could be considered slightly ‘degen.’; From one side, it supposedly means you are an ‘old soul;’ From the other, this life is a redo. In other words: Lots of karma to clean out. It refers to 4 or more planets Rx in the natal chart. At the moment we have 6 (including Chiron), soon to be 7.

So are we reverting to some ‘earlier and inferior condition?’ Are we witness to an uptick in degeneracy? Does it feel like we are time-traveling?
…I suppose it depends on who you ask or from what vantage point you are looking at those questions.

With Uranus crashing through Taurus, retracing the craters which have formed in the economy and the growing energy crisis, he is encouraging many to reconsider his element, Uranium, and how it could help

With Chiron, we may find ourselves reflecting deeply with a mentor about how to become the medicine, and what needs to happen to stop taking it

With Jupiter, we are reenvisioning growth and what progress actually means in our lives. Sometimes less is more.

With Neptune, the mythic imagination has been reactivated and more wyrd and wild-minded seekers are turning to the old stories, trying to bring the forgotten gods to life

With Saturn reinforcing the rules of this world, trying to remember what works and what doesn’t, he has us by our genitals, just like his father

With Pluto, we reenter through the cellar doors of our Psyche into those unkept, out-of-sight, dank chambers to confront the dark once again

And as far as Mercury and Mars, their stations are coming soon (I have written about both recently, just scroll and click around).

In reality, a retrograde planet is a close planet. That is, they are traveling close to Earth. It’s why we see retrograde motion, because of orbital and visual differences. And because of this proximity, in my experience, it’s a wonderful chance to reacquaint ourselves with these planetary gods. They are so close you can almost hear what they are saying. It’s wise to listen.
