It’s that time again, when Mercury tightens his grip on his staff, pivots, and begins to dive into the heart of the Sun.
Every 120 days or so, the One closest to our star comes back around. From our perspective, he changes direction. From his perspective, it’s a chance to pull off billions of “tricks,” attempting to reorient where our minds are pointed. Mercury retrograde is a blessing, not a curse. The sooner you realize this, the sooner you will sneak up on the Truth.
This one is entirely in Cancer (14–5 degrees). The last was in Pisces. The next in Scorpio/Libra. This aqueous triangulation points towards a heaven only found with emotional maturity and intuitive grace. And with our feathered guide stationing over the next 24 hours, it’s wise to tune our ears to what messages he may be sending.
The degree he stations Rx is 14 plus Cancer (June 18th). The Sabian Symbol for the rounded-up degree is:
A group of people who have overeaten and enjoyed it.
I enjoy looking at the symbols because they offer an image that brings us into the vicinity of the theme with a scene. This image reveals one of the greatest sins on the planet-gluttony. Many of us remain complacent in the apocalypse, thinking it all will return to normal soon enough. But will it? Are your super-sized dinners and tubs of ice-cream going to be around forever? I wonder. And so we carry this Image with us throughout the cycle. There is a pig in all of us, disconnected from the Mother-or is it a dragon disconnected to its body? Allow Mercury to show you the root cause of your emotional eating and other responses to vacant moments.
When Mercury catches up with the Sun and experiences cazimi, the cycle will begin again (July 1st). His caduceus will be placed firmly at 9/10 Cancer with those two snakes spiraling towards the crown of heaven. The symbol reads:
A large diamond not completely carved.
This vajra-like image conjures up our potential. It’s formed, yet unfinished. It has traveled millions of years in pressurized darkness, yet there is still more work to be done. It refracts a victorious rainbow of possibilities. Something unbelievably valuable is going to come from all of this. We will have to be patient warriors with diamond-focus until then.
And finally, once his wings are tired and he has found his view of Earth near Venus in the morning skies, he will station direct at 5/6 Cancer (July 12th). The symbol:

Like with all Mercury Rx periods, it’s a lovely time to reorganize our spaces. This run, consider making your home feel like the coziest nest you’ve ever had. Preen a bit. Don’t feel bad about it either. Many may need a place to rest their revolutionary bones in the coming weeks.
Whenever a planet stations direct, there is a truth that emerges. It takes a trained eye to see it though. We also need the context of the entire retrograde/cycle to be able to properly translate. It’s not as tough as a Rubix cube on edibles, but it does take some problem-solving skills. And it’s much easier done with our own stories, than with those of the Big World. Always focus on your own riddles first.
The Astrology of the rest of the year is a bit like a relay race, but the baton is not neutral. It’s more of a grenade than a baton-or potato. From Venus to Mercury to Mars, back to Mercury again, it’s safe to say that we are being worked on. Don’t despair though, we need it. Oh my good lord, do we need it. They keep showing me glimpses in my dreams of what’s to come of all this. It’s something to keep fighting for, no doubt.
