Vital Agitations
On Destiny according to Mars
We move through the world on two feet. One we can call the mundane foot, the other, our mystical foot. When we put our best foot forward and move toward a challenge, we are moving with our mundane foot; When we take a step back to reflect, we have pivoted to the mystical one. Both are needed to keep us moving and standing up straight. If we lean more on one or the other, we fall out of alignment. Our hips and backs will let us know this. They are vital agitations that assist us on Destiny’s road. Life is full of them. And in the language of Astrology, these prickles in life belong to Mars.
If you were to stare at the sky from dusk till dawn currently, you would never spot Mars. Still combust, being cooked in the fire of our star, preparing for his heliacal rise is where he is at. Hidden externally, but on fire internally. It’s in this phase of his cycle where we could say he’s at the precipice of a call to adventure. For us, we can spot this calling in late Libra in our charts. From this place, precisely at 22º Libra today, Mars will also trine Jupiter. It’s an insightful conspiracy between the two, one which may be helpful in striking a balance between our two feet.
This is occurring in the liminal space between Mercury and Jupiter stationing direct (yesterday; Oct. 18th) and the Full Moon in Aries (who Mars rules over; Oct. 20th). The trine from Jupiter’s perspective offers clarity in direction with the inspiration to move ahead; The trine according to Mars puts pep in our step powered by a will unshaken by other perspectives. They are eager to explore novel ideas around having boundaries of steel.
Lastly, to avoid becoming a lunatic under this Hunter’s Moon, we must press our ears to the earth and listen for the wyrd messages calling us to adventure.
The Chandra Symbol for this Full Moon is helpful: A wreath of laurel placed on the head of an old man. (28º Aries). Laurel, Apollo’s favorite tree who was once a lady he adored a little too much, erects the glory of victory in our heads. The old man has many victories, probably enough to match his failures, yet it’s in this degree where we focus on the victory tales. With this Full Moon squaring Pluto, I imagine his victory over the fear of death. Having moved enough with his mundane foot in life, he has now leaned back into the mystical and remembered something important: The Soul goes on forever. This life, this Moon, this Mars transit are all transient experiences, vital agitations along the wyrd road that help wake us up. And waking up has absolutely nothing to do with being woke. It’s finding Destiny within the labyrinth of Fate. It’s braiding Spirit and Soul together with flesh. It’s about being completely human.
So find these happenings in your chart. Contemplate them. Don’t let them off easy, because they won’t do the same for you.
